Two rows of butyl tape and one asphalt impregnated foam tape are applied to the top of the log in the patented tongue and groove channels. The upper log is set on the log below, compressing the butyl tape by 25% to ensure a secure bond between the two logs. The asphalt foam tape is compressed 50% to create a waterproof seal.

True North’s Secret
Patented channels are provided along the outside edge of the tongue and groove to accommodate the sealants, which prevent the sealants from being completely flattened out by the upper log. When movement occurs in the logs, a sufficient volume of sealant is provided to allow the sealant to flex, creating a constant bond between the two logs.
This technology is exactly the same as a black O-ring seal in a water faucet. The only difference is, True North is creating three O-ring seals the length of the log wall, so air infiltration or capillary attraction of water is not possible.
