Some homes begin with a blueprint.
A True North Log & Timber Home begins with a tree.
Long before the first foundation is poured or the first log is placed, a journey begins—one rooted in craftsmanship, innovation, and a commitment to creating homes that will stand for generations.
Whether it’s a cozy lakeside retreat or a custom estate designed around a family’s vision, every True North home follows a carefully refined process that transforms raw timber into a one-of-a-kind home.

It Starts in the Forest

Every log has a story.
Our process begins with carefully selecting mature trees that have reached their prime. These trees are harvested responsibly and transformed into homes that can stand for hundreds of years.
What many people don’t realize is that the carbon stored within these trees remains locked within the structure of the home itself. Rather than returning to the atmosphere as a tree naturally declines, that carbon continues its journey as part of a living space where families gather, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories.
Even more importantly, we strive to utilize every part of the tree. The highest-quality sections become the logs and timbers that define our homes, while remaining materials are used for other products and purposes. Very little goes to waste.
Preparing the Logs

Once harvested, the logs begin a critical stage of the process.
Unlike many manufacturers, we air dry our logs over an extended period. This slower, more natural process allows the wood to stabilize gradually while preserving many of its natural characteristics.
The result is a more predictable and stable building material that helps contribute to the long-term performance of the home.
This stage requires patience, but we believe exceptional homes are worth waiting for.
Designing Around Your Vision

No two families are alike.
No two properties are alike.
That’s why no two True North homes are alike.
Before manufacturing begins, our design team works closely with each client to understand how they want to live in their future home.
We consider:
• The property and its natural features
• Views and sunlight
• Lifestyle needs
• Family dynamics
• Entertaining spaces
• Long-term goals
Whether the vision includes a grand waterfront retreat, a family cottage, a mountain getaway, or a forever home, the design process ensures every detail is thoughtfully considered.

Precision Manufacturing

Once the design is finalized, the home begins to take shape inside our manufacturing facility.
This is where traditional craftsmanship meets modern technology.
Every log and timber is carefully processed, cut, and prepared according to the home’s custom design. Precision manufacturing ensures every component fits exactly as intended while maintaining the natural beauty and character of the wood.
Throughout the process, quality control remains a priority. Each component is inspected to ensure it meets the standards that True North homes are known for.
Bringing the Home to Life

After manufacturing is complete, the log package is delivered to the building site.
This is often one of the most exciting milestones for homeowners.
What was once a collection of drawings and ideas begins to take physical shape.
Walls rise.
Timbers are installed.
Rooms become recognizable.
Views are framed.
The home starts to reveal its personality.
For many clients, this is the moment the dream truly becomes real.
Construction and Finishing

Building a custom home involves far more than assembling logs and timbers.
Every detail—from mechanical systems and energy efficiency to interior finishes and architectural features—must come together seamlessly.
During this stage, the home evolves from a structure into a place designed for everyday living.
Kitchens become gathering spaces.
Great rooms become the heart of the home.
Outdoor living areas connect families to the surrounding landscape.
Each decision contributes to creating a home that reflects the owner’s lifestyle and vision.
Built for Generations

A True North home is designed to be more than a place to live.
It’s designed to become part of a family’s story.
It’s where children grow up.
Where holidays are celebrated.
Where traditions begin.
Where future generations will gather for decades to come.
From the forest to the finished home, every step of the process is guided by a simple goal: creating extraordinary homes that stand the test of time.
